Arat Stable.
Website & brand identity

what is it?

This is a responsive website for a local business — a stable named Arat. Its goals are to present the stable, its history and services offering, deliver regular news, and allow users to get in touch with the owner.

I designed it from scratch and built using Squarespace platform.

ideation

I started this project with deep dive into competition and target audience. I studied competing stables and interviewed the owner to understand their needs and business challenges. I researched and proposed several Squarespace templates which would fit the subject and the target audience.

design production

I developed a site map and iterated on it with the owner. Once we had a satisfying site structure, I created several quick layout sketches. I proceeded to design page layouts directly in Squarespace.

It was a very quick and efficient process: I was able to insert media and copy with ease, edit them and lay on pages in readable and attractive ways.

I used bits and pieces of custom CSS to improve the theme in several areas.

I engaged a professional photographer (Lukasz Zamaro) for a photoshoot of the horses, which resulted in a polished and tasteful look.

branding

I recreated stable’s logo in vectors and refreshed it in the process: cleaned up the horse symbol and chose a new typeface. The color palette (orange highlights and off-white backgrounds) and modern, sans-serif typography I chose for the website became the new brand.
