what is it?

Building Bridges—Yangon was an international young artists new media exhibition that took place in Yangon, Myanmar in July 2019. This exhibition brought together works of 23 young artists from Myanmar, India, and six other countries around the world as distant as Mexico or Ireland. The event was organized in collaboration with Emergent Art Space—an international platform open to all young art students and artists, Turqoise Mountain—a foundation that preserves and regenerate historic areas and communities with a rich cultural heritage and My Yangon My Home—not-for-profit contemporary art and heritage organization.

exhibition catalog

The exhibition catalog was written in two languages: English and Burmese. The content combines artists bios and summaries of their work.

poster, tote bag design & social media assets

To advertise the exhibition clients requested for designing a poster and social media assets such as Facebook and Instagram images post as well as the cover image. Additionally, the clients needed a poster design dedicated for a tote bag that was printed and hand-sewed in Yangon, Myanmar.

wall text

The wall text was located at the entrance of the exhibition and its goal was to inform the audience what was the show about. It was written in English and Burmese languages.

ideation

My clients and I started the whole process by defining the project strategy and schedule iterations dates. We discussed primary needs, expectations, and all needed deliverables.

Once the strategy was defined, I started working on design decisions such as typefaces, layout grid systems, color palette, and media assets. After these elements were accepted by the clients I started working on the first draft of the catalog and poster. Eventually, I also started working on social media assets and the wall text.
